Then Saturday, we awoke to rain and harsh, freezing wind. Just the kind of weather you wish for on the last day of soccer season. Slade's game was at ten. The rain had stopped but the wind was just awful. Emma, Nathan and Sawyer escaped to the car. Slade tried to escape also but since I wouldn't let him he actually did go play for a few more minutes. When we told him this was his last game, he said, "Good. I hate soccer."
Emma's soccer game was equally as cold though not as windy (but I forgot my memory card for the camera). She made some awesome assists and came oh so close to scoring a goal. Dave headed off early to go to the football game. The kids and I went home to hot chocolate and warm showers. It started snowing in the late afternoon. By six it was coming down rather hard. I got a babysitter for the boys and took Emma to see Hairspray. Must say, I was rather disappointed. It was fun to go with Emma though. She thought it was great and showed Dave some of the dance moves this morning. We went to Barnes and Noble afterwards. It does my bookworm heart such good to see Emma starting to develop a love for reading. She just finished Little House in the Big Woods. This was her first long chapter book. She chose Island of the Blue Dolphins to take home.
Dave braved the cold and snow for the football game. He said it felt like being inside a snow globe. He is "fully invested" after all and he stayed to the bitter (cold) end. The Cougs were easily victorious, 42-7.
We awoke to snow covered ground this morning. I am so not ready for winter! The kids begged to go out and play in the snow but I made them wait until after church.

Dave, wonderful Dave, decided to wake up in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow to drive back to Boise so we got to enjoy a nice Sunday evening together. I made soup and rolls for dinner. I killed my breadmaker in the process by failing to notice the cord was touching a burner. Bummer. Fortunately it was after the roll dough was finished.I am going to try really hard to make better choices this week so things aren't so hard while Dave is gone. Everything felt so out of whack last week. The kids weren't sleeping through the night. The house was a disaster. We had cereal for dinner. I stayed up WAY too late watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix. I am married to such an amazing man and it is hard when he is gone. I'm trying to keep it all in perspective though and will hope for a better coming week.

Snow?? I'm sure not ready for that yet. Cute snowmen, though! Kids just don't seem to mind the cold if they get to build snowmen. Meanwhile, I'm inside wrapped in a blanket drinking hot chocolate. I don't like winter! :)
Thanks for the heads-up about Hairspray. I'll take it off Netflix. (Wasn't that excited about it anyhow.)
We had our school carnival on Saturday, here in Colorado. Why I continue to volunteer myself for these activities is beyond me! Anyways, it was gorgeous and 80 degrees. But Sunday morning we too woke up to 20 degree weather and two inches of snow. Funny though the streets were dry from the heat of the previous day!
I hate the winter and the cold! But it sure was unbelievably beautiful yesterday.
I hope your week goes better.
Yeah, but you DO have a fantastic husband and 4 really cute kids on their way to being fantastic (just like mine!). So yeah for such blessings. And you did have some really good times this week too, and even staying up late, knowing you, for pretty fun. Enjoy all the moments you can.
I feel your pain on the camera thing. We didn't take a camera to either of Sabrina's soccer games this past weekend. Happily, we have 2, maybe 3 next weekend to photograph. Sabrina also loves to read. It is fun to see her get absorbed in a good book.
It was a bad weekend weather wise. I like snow but was not ready for it yet. I'm glad it feels like fall again.
Oh my gosh, could you believe that soccer weather?! I had the parka, the gloves, the ear muffs, the hood...and every time I stood up to readjust the blanket, my camp chair blew away. I felt terrible making my kids play out in the gale-force winds. And the soccer ball pretty well turned into a boomerang for my 13-yr-old's game. They'd kick it as hard as they could and it would go up, catch the wind, and come back to land a few feet away. It was funny, actually. And at least we switched goals at the half, so the wind was with us half the time. Crazy stuff.
Thank goodness for the weekend, huh? I keep thinking of President Hinkley's talk about life being like a train ride...the trick is in thanking the Lord for the ride! Loved the pics! Love you! See you Sunday.
These pictures are lovely and look like both fall and winter at the same time...Utah weather!
Staying up late watching Friday Night Lights is an excellent thing.
So many things to respond to! What i most loved was to find out that somebody else likes Friday Night Lights! I thought for sure I was the only one.
beautiful photos. I especially like the one of all this kids together.
