I spent the morning looking at the videos about this wonderful project. I particularly liked this one.

I wish I lived closer to Mesa so I could see the whole thing.

My friend asked me to take these pictures of her family before her husband deployed to Afghanistan for a year. She has three week old twins and a three year old. It hurt my heart a little to edit these pictures. Her blog tagline is "we live this life so you don't have to" and all I can say is thank you for doing such a difficult and heartbreaking thing.

breath of fresh air

This is the final layout I completed for my digital scrapbooking class.

I am really glad I took the class. I learned a lot. Hopefully, I will apply these newly learned techniques to many more pages in the future. Regardless, I got four great layouts done which is saying a lot.

To combat the winter blues, I took the kids to Jump On It, a warehouse full of trampolines and fun. We went right when they opened at 2:00 and almost had the place to ourselves. The kids had a fantastic time and were totally wiped out after an hour.

We headed home just as a nasty blizzard was starting. I picked up pizza on the way home. We were able to hunker down and stay safe and warm at home. I mentioned here that Dave was still at work at 11:30 that night. It turned out that he was not able to get home even though he wanted to leave. The police were not allowing cars to get out of the parking lot because the highway had been closed. IM Flash offered food from the cafeteria and he just kept working until he could head home. He did not get home until 1:30 in the morning. It was nasty storm with not a lot of snow but terrible winds. Cars were stuck on the freeway for hours. Many ran out of gas or had to abandon their cars. Children stayed at school overnight because they could not get home. I was very glad that Dave made it home safely. Eventually.

The next night, we headed up to Salt Lake for a concert and the roads were perfectly clear. Amazing what a difference a day makes.

I had grand plans for Valentine's Day but as with most of my big ideas lately I didn't follow through. I took pictures of the kids with the intention of doing cards. Didn't happen but I still have some cute pictures to share.

And even though I didn't send the cards, I still celebrated the fact that I have so many wonderful people in my life. I thought of you and felt so very blessed.

no 9-5 around here

Yesterday Dave left for work at 7. Did not come home for lunch. Came home at 7:30 pm. Left to go back to work at 9:30 and came home at 1 am.

Today he left for work at 7. Came home for lunch at 12. As of 11:36 pm he is still at work. Part of the reason is the weather. We are in the middle of a crazy blizzard and the road he has to take home is closed at least at the freeway exit. However, it is really because he needs to work. He isn't in Boise (thank goodness) but these hours are nuts!

I'm in the third of four weeks for my digital scrapbooking class. I am learning a ton. It will be interesting to see if I can translate any of the techniques into layouts I do on my own. I am finding the hardest part is choosing the pictures! Jessica Sprague's style is not totally in sync with mine but I still like the layouts I've created.

One more to go.

snow day

I didn't think it could happen in Utah but church was actually canceled today. Dave has been out shoveling for two hours, first our driveway and now he is helping the neighbors. Emma, Slade and Nathan all bundled up and went outside. Nathan lasted for about five minutes but Emma and Slade had lots of fun.

Emma said, "This is the best day. Well, maybe not the best because I can't play with friends but I am having so much fun!"
