our little ballet star

Anne had her first dance recital this month. She danced to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and was totally adorable.

january

I only took around 50 pictures this whole month. Life just kept moving on in its steady, routine, nothing-too-exciting to remember way. There was Scouts, violin lessons, choir practice, reading lessons, the start of play rehearsals, book clubs, Young Women's, and ballet. Just life.

This picture of Anne is something of a dream come true. We built shelves in the front room. They still aren't finished but it is so nice to have a room full of books.

Ben has become obsessed with the iPad.

Emma had an unusual desire to read this month. She read Beauty by Robin McKinley and Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson. It was wonderful to see her curled up on the couch with a good book!

My mom gave us this chess table for Christmas. The boys have been playing many games with the chess set we bought in Poland.

I've finally perfected my whole wheat bread. The whole family loves this bread. We go through 5 loaves in about 5 days. My kids seem to live on cheese sandwiches. Speaking of food, I did a two-week stint eating as a vegan. I wanted to see if it made a huge difference in how I felt. It didn't. I decided I like cheese too much to keep going.

new year's catch up

As it stands right now on January 1, 2013, 4:10 p.m., my blog has 17 entries for 2012. There are no entries for January, March, May, or December.

The last year (or two) seems to have gone into a black hole called life with Ben. I like to call it the Ben Factor. He has made everything in the last two years more complicated and overwhelming. That said, as our family's historian, I cannot let things stand as they are. I love reading back through our blog and remembering the details of life, big and small. Therefore, I am pledging to catch up and fill the holes of last year.

I am writing this post though as a reminder of my reality in 2012. I don't want to forget once the blog is all filled that I really only had 17 entries in all of 2012.
