bad idea

Yesterday I was having a bit of a bad day. I decided that I would try and eat up some time with an attempt at fun so I took the kids to a movie. BAD IDEA. Extremely bad. We were a bit late getting there so we had to find our seats in the dark. Sawyer actually sat in his stroller for about ten minutes but then that happiness ended. All the snacks I brought were eaten within twenty minutes. Sawyer didn't want to sit so we went to stand in the back. All was well until Nathan decided that just sitting or even walking quietly was no fun. He resorted to running, jumping and making entirely too much noise so I took Nathan and Sawyer out into the lobby. All was well again (except for the fact that I was missing the movie) until Nathan pulled the fire alarm! Total humiliation. We were able to go back into the theater for the last twenty minutes. After it was over, I made a mad dash out of there to avoid all the "why can't that mother control her kids" and "what was she thinking" looks. Really though, what was I thinking?

You are an adventurous and daring mama! Sorry it wasn't the outing of fun and relaxation you were hoping for.

I think you deserve kudos for just trying this! I didn't take the kids to the movies until recently, and I don't have little ones to think about either. :) You are always doing things that enhance your kids' lives, even though it won't be easy for you! You're a great mom, and I'm going to try to be more like you! (when I grow up...whenever that is.)

You do deserve points for trying, but I know what that scene is, and it is why I am on a movie with kids fast. It isn't fun. At all.:)

I'm impressed! Isn't that akin to shopping? All the kids by yourself, no less. I'm also impressed that you labeled it "everyday life." Anyway, next time take a teen helper with you, or a grandma.

Wow, I took them all alone once. Just once. You are a brave woman! What movie was it?

I'm not sure I want to admit what movie it was. That will just compound how idiotic I feel. Because really, why would they (Nathan and Sawyer) sit through this movie? It was.....
Harry Potter!

That is hilarious. Of course, I can only say that because it was not me going through it. You are a trooper, and a great mom to boot. Better luck next time.

This sounds like a very stressful outing, especially with the fire alarm situation. You were brave for trying to turn the day around.
