It was a cold and very wet birthday. The Vances came over to celebrate with us in the afternoon.
While Sawyer napped, the rest of us had one year old food: grilled cheese sandwiches, corn dogs, nuggets, and chips and dip. Really healthy! Sawyer finally made it to his party when Slade woke him up because he couldn't wait to eat the birthday cake.
Dave headed off to Priesthood session while we finished out the evening with the kids playing with friends, Sawyer taking another nap, then baths and books.Sawyer, you are a joy in our lives. We thrill to watch you learn and grow. What a blessing you are to our family.
Happy Birthday Sawyer-man. We love you!

That was a fantastic cake. I like the look on his face when you were giving it to him--like "Really Mom??" Cute! Glad you had such a good birthday. We'll celebrate Sam's today (even though it's Tuesday).
I like the tradition of giving the 1-year-old birthday cake to the toddler to delightfully destroy. It's a tradition we never thought of. I love the picture of you holding the highchair tray with it's smushed cake. Good to see cute you in a picture. So congrats to whoever took it. You've got so many cute pics of Sawyer, but my favorites are the ones of him standing last week. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
