daily december: 15

One of the best Christmas traditions of my childhood was making graham cracker houses. I was never good at it. My houses always fell apart so I never did anything particularly fancy. I always loved the process though and I have wonderful memories of doing it with family and friends. The tradition continues....

Tonight, Colin, Amy and Katie's family all joined us for the merry mess-making. Colin, not one to do something simple (even after last week's creation), made St. Basil's Cathedral. Impressive! It only took him five hours.

Very good tradition. We've been doing that one too. Although I get frustrated if the houses fall down. But the kids love it. Colin's Cathedral is amazing!!!!

So, my question is, who gets to eat the cathedral?

Colin took the cathedral home to his roommates. Poor starving college students, you know.

That's fun, we actually did our Gingerbread house this year ... really fun! Colin did an awesome job ... 5 hours?!? He needs to get married and have a child. We were actually glad to throw ours up in about 30 min. ... lol

Dang, that cathedral rocks! I thought men were supposed to be able to do anything with duct tape, but apparently royal icing is the real secret. Who knew?

We did graham cracker houses growing up, too, but I have only done gingerbread with my boys. I have very fond memories of the experience - I think that's the key, whether it's graham, ginger, or saltines! ha!

That cathedral is amazing!
