2. I've been on a bread-making kick lately. I'm trying to perfect a really great whole wheat bread. So far I haven't achieved success but all I've made still taste really yummy with strawberry freezer jam. I've also been making pizza every Friday night. I use the recipe from here. That does seem to be working well. Tonight I made one cheese and one chicken alfredo.
3. What is it about boys and dirt? Add water and I've got a perpetual mess on my hands.
4. Sawyer got Anne to laugh for the first time tonight. I was holding her and he started hitting her feet. She totally busted up and it was so cute. Nathan and Sawyer have been hitting her feet all night trying to get a repeat.
5. And now for the kicker of the day: Slade broke both of his arms tonight. Two arms. Broken! He was swinging without holding on and fell off the swing. He cried until he fell asleep. When he woke up about half an hour later he was still complaining and wouldn't move them. I had Dave come home early from his Daddy/Daughter date with Emma so he could take him to Urgent Care. I will take him to get his casts on Tuesday. We'll see how long they have to be cast and how badly it will effect our summer. Emma was able to have a water proof cast when she broke her arm. Since I just paid for a pool pass and swimming lessons, I hope he can too.

Both arms!!! Oh my- I hope waterproof casts are in his future.
I love the look of a thumb sucker- I hope for your sake you can break that habit though.
First giggles are so sweet!
My girls channel their inner boy almost every day with the dirt and water and such. It is what our summer looks like!
Oh my! I'm so sorry for Slade. Hope the 6 weeks go by fast for you. :)
I love thumb suckers. Sam was a big time thumb sucker and then grew out of it around 4. It was so nice to have be able to self sooth.
Boys and dirt - yes. Bane of my summer!
Wow. Two broken arms. Even with Seth's one last summer, it puts a damper on many things. Good luck and I hope he heals quickly.
Oh my goodness - two broken arms! I don't even know what to say besides good luck! Natalie's cast wasn't waterproof but thankfully she was only in it a week (and not during summer).
I have a good wheat bread recipe (my mother-in-law's) that I use if you want it.
No WAY!!!!! STBU. And/or Slade.
Give him Aunt Keri kisses to get better!
oh my....need I say more...your hands are so full! you're wonder woman...I wouldn't even be attempting bread at this point. :)
Oh no! Poor Slade! That's awful.
FROM GRANDPA SLADE: Way to go Slade! When I come toUtah next time can you teach me how to swing without hands-amazing!
How is Slade getting along with no arms? How are you getting along with Slade having no arms? Guess I'll see this weekend.
Do you have my bread recipe? I think it is very good.
BREAD
2 pkg yeast dissolved in ½ c. water 1 to 3 eggs
½ c. honey or sugar 4-1/2 c. flour
½ c. shortening, melted (or oil) (any part whole wheat)
1 c. warm water 2 t. salt
Combine sugar, shortening, salt, water and 1-1/2 c. of the flour. Beat well. Add the dissolved yeast, eggs and another 1-1/2 c. flour. Beat well. Add remaining flour by hand and knead well. Dump into large greased bowl. Cover and let rise til double. Punch down and let rest for 10 min. Shape into loaves. Put into greased pans and let rise again til double. Bake at 350 degrees until browned.
For fried bread, cut off pieces of dough after it has risen the first time. Flatten and fry in hot oil. Drain on paper towels, then serve with honey or jam. Yum!
(Oops the formatting is all messed up, but you'll figure it out.)
