not so mellow yellow

These pictures don't really do the color justice. The color is growing on me little by little. Since I have a feeling we won't be spending the time or money to repaint, I'd better learn to love it.

I have always hated how much stuff accumulated on my counter. It is my definite "hot spot". A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try and preempt the mess by making a new "command center" on the wall by my laundry room. It still needs a few things but I like how it is working and looking so far.

It took me the entire day to get the kitchen and family room cleaned up and re-beautified. Hanging blinds. Cleaning counters. Bringing back in all the stuff we moved out to paint. I'm so tired but I feel so much better without the mess. The front rooms still need some work though.

From the pictures I like it! Especially with the yellow flowers on the table. What do you mean that the pictures don't do it justice? Not bright enough, not gaudy enough, not pretty enough, what? Where are the pictures of the living room color? Anyway, I understand your disappointment, but are you sure that you would have liked the "right" color any better? Did you get your money back? That should help your feelings a little bit.

I think it looks great - I love yellow. It's so cheery! I ALWAYS freak out right after I paint. It never looks like I expect - too dark, too bright. But once I get all the furniture back & wall stuff up, it usually looks better. My sister tells me "give it 30 days." Sure enough...by then it's grown on me and I'm too cheap & lazy to change it!

Here goes...I'm FINALLY attempting to leave a comment! Of course I've been reading your blog faithfully, but haven't been successful commenting. Anyhow, I like the paint job. Jim's painting our entire downstairs right now. He's in charge, since he didn't like how I painted our Boise house. I REALLY should start a blog! Miss you guys, especially when I read your blog!

I'm so glad that kelly in new york knows how to leave comments! And she should start a blog.

I do like the color. It looks striking with your red couch and curtains.

The color looks very nice to me! Even though it was a mistake, it's very pretty!

I think I would need an entire room for a command center, but you are clearly more organized than I am. I actually like the yellow, although I know it's frustrating when it's not what you wanted. I hope it grows on you!

Hi Lindsay

I think the colour looks fabulous, warm and inviting - well done, (pass that onto your bother in law) HA HA.

I like it! Of course, I have yellow in my family room and kitchen, as well as a couple of other rooms, so maybe I am biased. I think it is cheerful (needed in the winter!) and welcoming-(needed most of the time!) I hope it grows on you. It is such a pain to use a 2x2 inch chip to try and figure out what a color will look like in a whole room.
