Oh well. On to the eye candy. Let me direct you to some of my all-time and recent favorite party finds.
First, I never tire of seeing the work of the queen of dessert tables, Amy Atlas. She made the dessert table famous, I think. This poolside table with all of its green goodness is one of my favorites from her.
Dessert tables and candy buffets are all the rage. This one was even featured by Amy Atlas on her blog because it really is so great.
Here are a few more from my inspiration folder.

I am always astounded at the creativity to be found on the internet. Like using Jell-O for darling centerpieces or scrapbooking paper to make plain Jane paper plates into something with far more cute factor. It seems so simple. Why didn't I think of that?!

I love seeing how creativity and attention to detail take ordinary celebrations and make them something wonderful. Take for example, this first birthday party turned Grinch Party found here, here and here on the Blonde Designs blog.
Perhaps it seems a little ridiculous to some of you to put such effort into parties that will be quickly forgotten. Rather, I agree this mother's sentiment:"And while Oliver will likely have no memory of all the party-details, the time and thought we put into this celebration made it feel all the more special to us."

I love all these ideas too! Now...if I just had the time and the $$ things would be lovely!
We are the perfect pair - you love to decorate, and I love to party! Come move next door...
My fault comes in not being detail oriented - I just love the details they put into their work but I would NEVER do that. And I agree with Laurie about the money - and the waste! All that stuff just to be used for a few hours and then thrown away...I can't stand that. And if it's not thrown away then i have to find a place to store it! Even worse! But oh so cute.
I've been to a couple of your parties and know that you do know how to do it up right. I've already been impressed. Now let's see if I can get inspired to follow suit.
i am a party planning, detail girl, too! i love it all and love finding reasons to do it.
I agree. Let's party!
At your house.
I'm with Dana. But I will most certainly call you when I'm planning one of the four weddings that are in my future.
I think Amy Atlas's parties are darling! and beautiful. I'm sure dessert/candy tables will go out of style before too long, but they are soo cute!
My one hold up, besides the current lack of energy, is the money. Wow, it seems to take a lot.
P.S. Wouldn't you be worried about eating off scrapbook paper?
Like all things, parties can be done at varying levels. Of course, you can do one that costs a lot. I think you can also do a great, creative party with lots of fantastic details that doesn't cost that much. For example, for Emma's polka dot party, I used things I already had like newspaper, scrapbook paper, and polka dot plates. It just cost me in food and time.
Once you invest in some great party supplies like serving platters, cake stands, etc., you can use those again and again. It doesn't have to be that expensive or wasteful, I think.
And yes, I think I would eat off of scrapbooking paper. Paper is paper right?
Oh my. I am having a birthday party for my 7 year-old next Friday and have yet to plan anything. I just sent out generic invitation and am making the cake myself because he's decided to stop eating gluten to see if it makes him feel better (translation - it won't be pretty).
All of this beauty is inspiring...but it makes me feel a bit like a schmuck too!
I love planning parties, too and I am amazed at the ideas that I find on the internet. Thanks for sharing the resources. Hope you and your cute family are doing well. I love reading your blog. You do so many great things, but you are so real about it. Love it!
