goop

We are discussing states of matter for Science. Today we played with the ever so easy but so much fun goop concoction of 2 cups cornstarch and 1 cup water. As you play with the mixture, squeezing it into a ball, it takes a solid shape but as soon as you open your hand it turns back to liquid. We have done this several times before but my kids were still fascinated for a good chunk of time.
I left the kitchen to go and look at the lesson assessment on the computer. I swear I was only distracted by the computer for 5 minutes! So much can happen in 5 minutes! I came back to find this.
Goop mess all over the counter and all over the floor. Oh, isn't learning fun!

I love that your younger children get to benefit from the learning that is intended mostly for your older children. Another very good reason to homeschool. Aside from the crazy mess, of course.

Messes like this are so worth it for me- I always feel like the best mom. Making those memories possible. We make play dough all the time, but haven't done this one yet- she is going to love it!

So fun! Not for the clean up, of course, but the kids loved it! I did this when I taught 5th grade matter units. I colored it green for more "slime" effect. It was fantastic.

Goop looks like fun. I think we'll try this.

Hey, I think I might even like playing with that! I have made goop from elmer's glue before (for a "potions class" at my son's Harry potter birthday party) but I like the edible factor in yours. Not so much worry about unpredictable toddlers. The pictures of the mess gave me a rash, though, lol.

Oh my! What a mess! At least these are beautiful picutres - love the lighting Lindsay! And how long did it take to clean up that mess?!
