10 Signs of Digital Overload
- Slipping away from activities with people to check e-mail or social networking sites.
- Checking the same sites repeatedly within a short period of time.
- Spending little time outside.
- Finding it hard to complete a task such as writing a report without frequently breaking away to check e-mail or unrelated websites.
- Spending little time in face-to-face interactions with friends.
- Going online or using a digital device when you feel stressed or want to avoid an unpleasant task.
- Family members spending most of their time at home in separate rooms interacting with screens.
- Frequently using digital devices to entertain a child instead of talking, singing, playing, or reading with him or her.
- Checking the computer first thing in the morning, or getting up during the night to use digital devices.
- Spending long stretches of time surfing for content, often viewing content that is inappropriate or borderline.

Amen!
I hadn't seen that in the Ensign yet (see, at least you're reading the Ensign too!) but those things sound a bit too familiar...just for me though. Ironic how I'm strict with my kids about their screen time, but not with myself! Thanks for the good reminder!
PS - I miss your blogging!
Yeah, a few of those items got my guilt going, too. Like, everyone in separate rooms interacting with screens...that's our house. Made me want to gather everyone up for a good rousing board game or something. Definitely a wakeup call!
I read that a week ago and felt the same signs. Mostly using a digital devise to avoid an unpleasant task (like all the tasks in my day???) I’m grateful for their warnings.
Amen on Downton Abbey! And I find that I'm so grumpy when I get caught up in a series I have constant access to - vs the ones you have to wait each week for. I go bulimic on it and can't stop until I feel awful and wish I could purge it all!
I just started the second season...
Glad you're back! Personally I'm thankful for the screens in my life, and I'd like a couple more :) They have simplified my communications, journaling and shopping, plus have opened windows to the creative world.
